I SEE US IN A SNOWGLOBE
by Josephine Foster
I see us in a snow globe,
my merry friends and I
Christmas Eve at Robert’s
It’s blizzarding, yet we
my merry friends we’ve gathered
for some stragglers at the bar
I see us in a snow globe
in a tiny diner car of glass
Chris upon the drums
John and Peggy on guitars
and I upon my wooden flute
frozen amungst stars
A song of baby Jesus
glowing in the night
A song of friendly beasts—
donkeys gently bray
It’s blizzarding in Nashville
we carol for some stragglers,
hunched frozen at the bar
I hear a wind that stirs the flakes
Peggy’s ringing her blue bell
I see us in a snow globe
It’s Christmas Eve you see—
A hand has shaken us!
has Robert’s taken us?
here we come, a-wassailing!
