NOISE POLLUTION
by Alan Howard
The constant reminder
The hustle and bustle
A dog runs up to greet you
Pulls you away
But the hum creeps in
Like the dark in your
Vision after standing up
Too fast
Not the hum you came
Here for: the bugs, the
Birds, the wind through
Green grass
Splashing around the corner
Time dragging its mark
On your knee
But the hum that you
Run from, the highway
Two men
Talkin’ business
Came here to escape
But it’s amplified
In opposition
To your surroundings
The dog standing on the
Bridge over the murky stream.
"Don’t jump Charlie,
Life’s too good!"
