Two Poems
by Princess Cake
centers of the universe
the stars chirp
crickets at the top
of the universe
tiny frogs for all i know
for all i heard
above my gleaming pulse
shining between my ears
the highway rings
around the sound of a black hole
in silver disc rainbows
you played for us and drove
with twelve species of frog
we quizzed ourselves on
and sometimes
incredibly
we were right
i flip the switch
the bulb on my patio
brightens a rectangle
while all else around
is dark, woods dark
bedtime dark,
quieted creatures
except for the bugs
or frogs
in any case,
the small ones
with eyes closed
we’re all in this dream
you’re on my mind and i’m yourself
listening to lost language
even with eyes closed, or especially
with echoes
